About Us
The idea of metering pumps USA grew out of a basic need that we identified within our sister company, Filter Tech of Georgia, Inc. At Filter Tech, chemical feed systems and metering pumps were one of the specialties that we worked with daily. However, one problem we constantly faced was taking calls from customers that insisted on trying to describe the pump or part that they needed. This left us trying to figure out what part a customer needed by their description of the object. Obviously, the part we sent was wrong more often than not.
To try to correct this problem, we started faxing a picture of parts explosions to our customers. This helped… but only with customers with quality fax machines. The fax they received was often jumbled and was no help with identifying small parts. We then tried to e-mail diagrams of parts explosions, but this soon became a lot a work.
We felt that the easiest and smartest way to correct this problem was to develop a website that would allow our customers to identify parts and place the order without having to pick up the phone. This idea eventually became the basis for MeteringPumpsUSAcom.
MeteringPumpsUSA.com is a family owned and operated business. We are on our third-generation of owner/operators. Our family started in the well pump industry in the late 1930s when William Lasiter started as a sales rep for Fairbanks Morse pumps. His son, Billy Lasiter started in the well equipment business in 1968. In 1976, William and Billy started their own business whole selling pump and well equipment to well drillers and rural plumbers.
In the early 1980s, Billy identified water treatment as the next "big thing" and he spent most of the 1980s studying and learning the water treatment business. By 1990, the business focus switched from pump and well supplies to water treatment. In 1992, Filter Tech of Georgia Inc. was officially incorporated and water treatment became the sole concentration.
In 2000, Billy's son Chris joined Filter Tech of Georgia joining older brother Tim as the third-generation family member in the well/water treatment business. Filter Tech continues to concentrate on filtration and water treatment. Metering Pumps USA was incorporated to concentrate on the chemical feed system side of the Industry.
